Privacy Policy

Our commitment to your privacy

Your trust is important to us. So we want to explain how we collect, store and handle your personal data, and let you know that we've also updated our Privacy Policy.

Why we collect your data

We want to give you the best possible service with Kenny Solicitors. For example, the data we hold about you helps us contact you about your conveyancing or to suggest other services of ours you might find helpful such as Wills.

How we collect your data

We do this in a couple of ways - including when you initially shared your information with us by completing your forms. This is stored securely in a password protected database, as we treat your data with the utmost care and take appropriate steps to protect it.

When we’ll share your data

We do not share your data with any other parties except where you have authorised us to do so or where it is necessary for your transaction, e.g. with managing agents if you are purchasing a flat.

Know your rights

You have many rights regarding your personal data, including seeing the data we hold, and updating your information.

Retention of your Data

Under Solicitors Regulation Authority rules we are required to retain your financial information for a minimum of six years. We are also required to retain your files for a suitable period in the event of any problems that may arise in the future. Our current policy is to retain your file (and so your data) for a minimum of 10 years. Your files are stored through a third party, currently Iron Mountain. We do not have the fire proof facilities (or space!) to store them in our office. Only the minimum of data is shared with Iron Mountain for the purposes of cataloguing our files, currently only your name and the address of the property you bought or sold. We do not share your other contact information or give them permission to contact you. Their own privacy policy can be found here: http://www.ironmountain.co.uk/utility/legal/privacy-policy

Unfortunately in order to comply with our regulatory obligations if you do not agree to the above we will not be able to act on your behalf.

Software

We operate to the highest levels of IT data protection. Our systems are constantly monitored by an IT company to ensure we remain up to date with current risks. The following software companies host your data and therefore could have access to it although we give them no permission to use your data in respect of anything other than IT assistance.
